Little Island

A few weeks ago, my family and I went to check out one of the newest attractions in New York City, Little Island. We went there not really sure what to expect, but we brought some food in hopes that there would be somewhere to sit down and eat. Reservations weren’t required from 6:00am to 12:00pm, so we went during that time block since reservations any later were sold out.

There was a line wrapped around the pier, so we knew it was quite a hotspot while approaching the island! The line moved pretty quickly, though.

After getting through the line and onto the island, we went up one of the several ramps that lead to different views of the New York City skyline, which brings me to how accessible this island was! These different pathways were very well built for wheelchair users. There were ramps leading all the way to each view, while also being some stairs in between for those who are able-bodied to take a shortcut. Overall, the island was really well built and adapted for people with less mobility. You can see a photo of the layout of Little Island below.

There were some awesome views of Manhattan on Little Island, and it almost reminded us of The High Line but more hilly. My moms and I got some photos with the skyline in the background, which you can see below. We also had a little picnic at the tables on the island. We brought our own picnic, but they also have some stands near the picnic tables which you can get food from as well.

Little Island was very fun and a nice adventure for the day. It was super accessible and was built very thoughtfully. If you are ever in the city, I definitely recommend checking out Little Island!
